Azagidi, Brave warrior of the land played by Udofia Otobong Ime,
The play Azagidi tells a story of a sea goddess, Igbaghon, who falls in love with a brave warrior, Azagidi, and decides to abandon her Aquarian abode and joins him in his kingdom, Udo. In their matrimony, she bore two children for him. Issues came crashing as Uvbi, the barren daughter of Ogie the King of Udo wishes Azagidi as a husband. In the quest and lust for power, Azagidi agrees to marry her, thus casting Igbaghon aside, and eventually sends her on exile as a sign of allegiance to the King Ogie, so as to have the kingship bestowed on him. In revenge, Igbaghon cunningly demanded to stay with her children until nightfall which Azagidi agrees. In her deep state, she kills Uvbi, Ogie and uses her children she bore for Azagidi’s as the final sacrifice to Olokun, god of the sea. In his grief, Azagidi stabs himself in the throat.
